The Lakes South Morang College Newsletter SCHOOL COUNCIL REPORT

Hello to our Parents/Carers,

This term is shaping up to be another bumper term with many excursions across many year levels on Primary and Secondary, events, Book Week activities, the Fathers Day stall, and parent teacher interviews all planned for the next few weeks! It ’ s great to see so much activity after the past couple of years, and School Council appreciates all the work and effort our staff go to in organising these activities. Firstly, a big thank you to all parents/carers who have already completed the 2022 Parent/Caregiver Opinion Survey that was emailed to families last week. If you haven ’ t already done so, we encourage families to do so, it takes no more than 10 minutes to complete, with results used for future school planning and management of our school. The survey closes on 16 September 2022.

The first School Council meeting for Term 3 was held this week, with the main topics of discussion being:

• The proposed English Language Centre on the Secondary Campus. We passed a motion that School Council supports the establishment of a new English Learning Centre on the Secondary Campus, subject to approval by the Minister of Education; • Setting a future timeframe for an evaluation of the iPad/laptop programs on both Campuses, reviewing both their use in the classrooms and the skills required of students when using them; and

• Options for commemorative garments for 2023 Year 12 students.

School Council meetings are quite action - based, so if students or families have any issues, both positive or negative, that you would like added to the meeting agenda, we would love to hear from you. Everyone is more than welcome to email me at amanda.farrelly@education.vic.gov.au.

Our next Council meeting is Tuesday 6 September 2022 at 6:30pm at the Secondary Campus.

Cheers,

Amanda Farrelly School Council President
