STATE REP. JONES' FUNDRAISER T he Venton Jones fundraiser was one of the highlights of the month for the JBJ team. Held at the Tower Club in downtown Dallas, it was a well-attended event that had a networking happy hour while overlooking the downtown cityscape. After the networking,

State Representative Jones gave an impassioned speech to attendees about the importance of working together to ensure District 100 is the best that it can be. There were stakeholders, business owners, and government officials in attendance including Judge Dominique Torres-Williams and former city councilwoman Diane Ragsdale. State Rep. Jones’ next fundraiser will be on September 8th in Austin.

A ccording to a McKinsey & Company article entitled "Gone for Now, or Gone for Good," nearly half of the employees who voluntarily left the workforce during the pandemic aren’t coming back on their own. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows more than 4.3 million people voluntarily quit their jobs in December 2021 which was slightly below a record high the previous month. Today, this means employers have to recognize why employees are leaving the workforce. What I am seeing across the board is companies are offering big bonuses, and higher starting wages in some cases but never look at why people are leaving. The answers are simple, a lot of people have lost multiple loved ones and are still grieving, and others are just tired of being treated like a number and not a person. I agree with McKinsey and Company's assessment, “if companies make a concerted effort to better understand why employees are leaving and take meaningful action to retain them, companies can gain an edge in the race to attract, develop, and retain the talent they need to create a thriving post-pandemic organization.
