Children through young adults are invited to join the Mudrats Swim Team to enhance competitive strokes, conditioning, starts, turns and more. Mudrats swimmers are highly encouraged to participate in meets, have fun, and do their best regardless of whether they win or lose. Prerequisites: Swimmers must meet the stated age requirement by May 31, 2023. Swimmers eight years and under should be able to swim freestyle and backstroke for 25 yards. Swimmers nine years and older should be able to swim freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly for 50 yards. Parental Requirements: Parents, or other family members, must work a designated number of volunteer jobs at meets and/or Mudrat activities during the season (plus City Meet and/or Classic Meet). Swimmers will not be eligible to declare for meets without meeting the designated number of jobs per family. The Mudrats Parent Board will assess a fine for each missed job; multiple missed jobs may results in swimmer ineligibility to attend meets, practices, or social events. Two or three meets are scheduled weekly from mid-June through July and will be held on Tuesday or Thursday evenings or Saturday mornings. No refunds will be given after the first week of practice. A new parent meeting and open house will be scheduled before the start of the season. Practices will be held in the evening at an indoor location the first two weeks of practice. Information for practice times and location for the first week will be available on the Mudrat’s web site. (bs)
