to you until you first gave up the poor ones.” While Dorothy’s head still lay upon his shoulder in happy contentment, her father continued, “M y little daughter, God’s gifts are like the string of real pearls. He longs to place in the hands of us, His children, gifts that exceed thè preciousness of any riches or jewels, no matter how costly. But He cannot give us these heavenly riches because we cling to the cheap earthly ‘treas ures,’ our imitation ‘pearls.’ And all the while we keep saying that we love Him ! God’s gifts are better than anything the world has to offer. W e can always trust His love, dear Dorothy. W e need never hesitate to place in His hands our dearest treasure, for though He doesn’t always give us actual things in return, He gives joys that are the very best treasures.” So saying, Mr. Goode fastened the beau tiful pearls about Dorothy’s neck. And as he did so, he continued, “May these pearls always remind you of God’s best gifts, and may you never choose nor be contented with an imitation.” A smile of love and thanks and under standing brightened Dorothy's face. Her heart was so full that she could not speak. —'S elected . The Saviour o f Boys and Girls June is the month for Children’s Day. I am so glad that most Sunday-schools set aside a Sunday to honor the boys and girls. God’s Word has much to say about children, and many boys and girls are mentioned by name in God’s wonderful Book, the Bible. When our Lord Jesus was here upon earth, mothers brought' their children to Him that He might bless them. How lov ing and tender He was as He took them up in His arms! You can read all about this in Matthew 18:1-6, 10-14; 19:13-15; Mark 10:13-16, and Luke 18:15-17. I wish you would read Mark 10:14 aloud: “ Suf fer [allow ] the little children to come unto me.” What a gracious invitation the Lord Jesus gives children to come to Him! He wants you to come, boys and girls, and to receive Him as your own Saviour. You can do it now. “ Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be ' saved” (Acts 16:31). “ As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12). After you have received Him as your own Saviour, you will want to talk to Him often in prayer. God hears and answers the prayers of boys and girls when they ask according to His will and His knowl edge of what is best for them. Besides praying, you will need to read and to memorize God’s Word. In prayer we speak to God, but through His Word He speaks to us. In 2 Timofhy 3 :15 you can read about a boy named Timothy, to whom Paul said: “ From a child thou hast known the holy Scriptures.” Boys and girls who know the Lord Jesus should want to tell others about Him. Some have told their mothers and fathers about the Lord Jesus and thus have led them to accept Him as Saviour. Have you ever told any one about H im?—M. S. H.

But Juniors will remember To witness where we are. Vacation days pass swiftly And we shall make new friends, And speak to each of Jesus Before the summer ends.
