T he Fall of 1986 was a smelly period of time for me. Seriously, I smelled bad. The aroma surrounding my football locker my sophomore year in college made people stop and notice. Or, stop and run the other direction. Our team was on a nine game winning streak, headed for the playoffs, and I was bound and determined to not wash my socks or practice gear until we lost. Never mess with a winning streak. I didn’t get too many people hanging around my locker, but I never mess with a winning streak. Tyler Ashe, Lead Technician for Mr. Rooter Plumbing – Minnesota (Rochester market), always washed his socks during his winning streak in 2016 so he’s probably not as superstitious as I am (his boss). Nevertheless, Tyler’s winning streak last year was unmatched – before or since. One glorious month in the Summer of 2016, Tyler closed 56 jobs in a row without an estimate. That’s right, 56 appointments and 56 Sales. All in a row. Tyler maintains, regularly, an 80 percent plus closing percentage with high job averages, so going on a good run of sales without an estimate wasn’t too surprising. But 56 in a row? We were amazed. Tyler attributes his Winning Streak to a little bit of luck, a whole lot of hard work and keeping his mind right before every call. “When I get to the door I get my mind ready, and review what I’m there for. I am already thinking about the different possibilities of what led to the issue and how I can show or explain to the homeowner how to prevent it from happening again,” said Asche. What is his philosophy going into a call? “ I

get excited every time a job is sent. I love fixing people’s problems, and educating them on why it happened. I show up as a plumbing technician, and leave as their friend” As the company kept track of his streak and announced each milestone to all our techs, we probably put some extra pressure on Tyler, but he just kept knocking down the sales and we all had a great time following his streak. At the end, when “the streak” was finally broken, as it was sure to do eventually, he took it in stride.

When I called him after his first estimate in over a month he said “time to start a new streak”! Perseverance, being intentional - and taking pride in the work you do will get you started on your way to a winning streak. Just remember to wash your socks. Or not. Tyler Asche has been a Mr. Rooter technician for more than three years and has been in plumbing and drain cleaning for 15 years. He is the lead technician for Mr. Rooter Plumbing – Minnesota’s Rochester market.
