CELEBRATING A TEAM EFFORT Driver Appreciation Week is an important event in our industry, and it’s also one of my favorite times of the year. This celebration is one of the many ways we recognize

the best team in the business, and I love to see how we honor our driving force. During this time, I’m reminded of how our success truly is a team effort. The way we deliver excellence is much more

than just LTL, Truckload, Dedicated, Distribution & Fulfillment and Integrated. It’s about people. And it’s about us working together to help others succeed. That teamwork has built a strong foundation for more than 50 years, P2

TEAM NOTES From Gary Sasser

Outstanding Second Quarter Profit Sharing Contributions

CONTINUED EXCELLENCE

Profit Sharing is a prime example of how we’re able to win individually and as a team. And the great thing about Profit Sharing is you get to see the results in real time.

In the second quarter, an amount equal to 7.988% of your pay was contributed to your 401(k) retirement account! That's very close to our total in the second quarter of 2023, and it’s significantly more than the average match that most companies offer. To show how strong our Profit Sharing performance has been for several years, this is the 14th consecutive quarter that we’ve achieved at least 5.8%!

“Profit Sharing is something we believe in, and your efforts play a critical role in keeping our performance at such a high level,” says President and Chief Operating Officer BARRY BLAKELY . “Thank you for everything you do to make it happen – your efforts absolutely make a difference.” To learn more about how our Profit Sharing program works and ways you can affect how much you earn, go to InsideAveritt.com/ProfitSharing . CELEBRATING THE BEST TEAM

Driver Appreciation Week Sept. 15-21

Driver Appreciation Week is one of our favorite times of the year because it’s one of the ways we celebrate the best team in the industry. This year’s event is scheduled for Sept. 15-21, and during that time facilities throughout our network will have cookouts, giveaways and other festivities.

Additionally, as has been the case for several years, we’ll have drawings for prizes such as gift certificates, Red Thinkin’ Rewards points and more. And five lucky over-the-road drivers will have their names entered in a drawing for an assignment of a brand-new Freightliner! Each day during Driver Appreciation Week, we’ll update our special Driver Appreciation Week homepage to let you know who won our daily drawings. So be sure to check out InsideAveritt.com/DAW2024 to see if you won any prizes, and we can’t wait to celebrate this special time with you! T m

ROOM TO GROW Knoxville Dock Expansion Puts Us In Strong Position For The Future

Golf Tournament Set For Aug. 31 In Cookeville We have lots of facilities enhancements taking place throughout our network, and those projects are all about preparing us for what's ahead while at the same time giving associates the best possible quality of life on the job. One important project in the works is a dock expansion at our Knoxville service center. We anticipate the enhancement will be completed by early 2025, and it will add 56 doors, giving us a total of 154. “This addition is for the future,” says Knoxville Service Center Director JEFF PENLEY, “and it will put us in position to always be a solutions provider for our customers moving forward.” Region 1 Vice President BRYAN SNYDER says the

project will also positively affect multiple services. “With the expansion, we are well positioned for future growth within our LTL and pool distribution markets,” Bryan explains. “The Knoxville service center processes approximately 1.9 million pounds per day, and this expansion will give us plenty of capacity well into the future. The dock is going from 60 feet to 80 feet wide, which will give us ample space for staging freight during our inbound city operation.” We’re excited to see what’s in store for our Knoxville team as this enhancement gets closer to completion. Because with added space and the best associates in the industry, we’ll be able to move more freight In And Out Of The South through this key market! T m

ALWAYS MOVING FORWARD WITH FACILITIES

Our facilities enhancements all boil down to putting our core beliefs into action. That includes our commitment to Always Averitt. We recently released a video that shows how our investments are setting us up for a brighter future, and you can watch the video at InsideAveritt.com/FacilitiesWhy.

‘ALWAYS ASK FOR MORE’

Service Center Director Started Out As Operations Support

Jonathan was referred to Averitt by a friend in 2006 after serving in the Army, and he began his career at our Orlando facility in a role that is now known as operations support. After three years, Jonathan moved over to the dock to help oversee a large account that we had gained. Three years later, he was promoted to a frontline leader position, doing inbound for about a year. Jonathan then switched to outbound and distribution for about a year, then he served in city dispatch for five years before moving to sales in 2019. Jonathan’s most recent promotion has taken him to Greenville, where he is filling the role of JEFF MONROE following Jeff’s retirement. “I think the key to my growth has been not to settle and always ask for more,” Jonathan says. “Some people shy away from more work. But sometimes when you show interest and ask how to do something, people can see you’re interested in the next step, and they can mentor you. I showed interest every time somebody showed me how to do something. That helped me develop my skills in every area I was working, and it helped me grow within Averitt and be more successful in my roles as I took them on.” Jonathan says open communication is another big key to growth. “Communicate with your leaders. Let them know that you’re interested in moving up and that you want to be mentored,” he explains. “Say to your leaders, ‘I want to learn how to do this and work at the next level.’ So when the opportunity does come, you are ready.” And as Jonathan found out with his most recent promotion, being willing to relocate can open even more doors. “If you want it, and if it’s not a deal-breaker, there are always opportunities within all of Averitt,” he says. “Are you willing to move, and are you willing to go for it?” ‘YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOUR OPPORTUNITY IS COMING’ Over in Dothan, DANIEL METCALF has also seen growth in his career. He came to Averitt a little more than 12 years ago as a city driver after spending more than a decade at another company. “It was night-and-day different,” Daniel says. “We have great people to work with, Averitt is a great company and we have great equipment.” Daniel’s growth journey started after he began filling in for leadership responsibilities as needed. “I started picking up on it and learning, and that became my thing,” he explains. “My thought process progressed into, ‘Maybe that’s what I need to be doing.’” Daniel was recently promoted to a frontline leader role, and he says there In his 18 years with Averitt, new Greenville Service Center Director JONATHAN JIMENEZ has found that there are always opportunities for growth if you ask for them.

At top, JONATHAN JIMENEZ is now our Greenville Service Center Director after beginning his Averitt career as an operations support associate. Above right, DANIEL METCALF was recently promoted to frontline leader after starting as a city driver. are several factors that have helped him grow. “The biggest keys for me have been learning as much as I can, always watching and asking questions,” says Daniel, who also gives credit to Service Center Director ALAN JIMMERSON . “‘Why do we do this?’ ‘Can we do that this way?’ I’ve also always shown interest and have been excited about it.” Daniel encourages other associates to prepare for whatever may be next in their careers. “Always show you care. And learn as much as you can, because you can never know too much,” he says. “Succeed at any task you have in front of you, and knock it out of the park. You never know when your opportunity is coming, so be ready for it.” WHAT IS YOUR NEXT STEP? BUILDING CONNECTIONS Charlotte Associate Has Made Many Referrals In Career

After coming to Averitt as a part-time dock associate, Scott went through our Dock-To-Driver Training Program and served as a city driver for more than 30 years. A few years ago, he transitioned into a new position helping to oversee our Charlotte Avery Warehouse. In that role, Scott receives trucks, assists with inventory and makes a couple deliveries each day. Scott uses our Power of One capabilities as a powerful referral tool. “I have regional drivers from other companies coming in – at least one a day. I talk with some of them, and I’ll give them referral cards,” he says. “They ask about over the road, and I say, ‘Averitt does it all.’ I also have LTL drivers coming down here doing pickups, and they’re like, ‘I didn’t know Averitt had a warehouse like this.’ We service whatever the customer wants. That’s one thing that sets Averitt apart. If you want a specialized service, we’ll do it.” ‘SOMETHING MUST BE GOOD ABOUT AVERITT’ During his tenure as a city driver, Scott built connections with many drivers from other companies. “It was basically the Averitt image and equipment. They would see me every day and the service we provide. One thing led to another, and we’d SCOTT OVERCASH has been with our Charlotte team for nearly 36 years, and during that time he’s had many opportunities to make People Like You referrals. At least four have been hired by Averitt, and Scott continues to make a habit of letting others know about us.

start talking about Averitt. They’d say, ‘Wow, you’ve been there a long time, so something must be good about Averitt.’ I’d tell them exactly the way it is, and I’d ask them what they want to do.” Scott’s most recent referral was his nephew, who was hired as a part-time dock associate. “He called me recently and said, ‘Uncle Scott, I really appreciate you helping me come to Averitt,’” Scott recalls. “He said, ‘I love it here. I wish I’d done it years ago.’” Though he has made many referrals over the years, Scott has been careful to only refer people he thinks will be a good fit for our culture. “I don’t go to bat for a lot of people,” he explains. “I go to bat for people I know want to make Averitt a career. Not just a part-time job to make money. There’s a big difference in the two.” Thank you, Scott, for your dedication to quality People Like You referrals! Your commitment and the commitment of associates throughout our network is keeping us strong for the future! Cracker Barrel Account A Strong, Long-standing Partnership A BARREL FULL OF TRUST

Any relationship that lasts 25-plus years has to be built on trust and respect. And that’s exactly what we have with Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.

Averitt. “My experience at Averitt allows me to connect with our driving force and leadership team on a personal level, fostering trust and open communication. It also enables me to provide practical guidance and support, helping them navigate their roles effectively.” IMMEASURABLE BENEFITS According to Scott Gardner of Cracker Barrel’s distribution and logistics leadership, the solutions we provide are crucial for his team’s success. “Averitt is kind of the glue that holds our supply chain together,” Scott says. “Without Averitt, we couldn't get done what we need to get done every day. The benefits are almost immeasurable for us, from the relationship that drivers have at the stores with our store managers to Averitt's engineering and technology team. It just drives innovation and continuous improvement throughout our supply chain.” Jim Burnett, Cracker Barrel’s Director of Logistics, adds that communication is another key. “I think the success of that relationship is not only because of Averitt’s operational expertise, but for me, I think it boils down to mutual trust across our organizations,” he says. “We’re going to come together and collaboratively solve problems as they arise within the Cracker Barrel supply chain. We trust that Averitt is going to have our interests in mind as we design these solutions.” Because of that, we can help each other succeed. “The Averitt/Cracker Barrel relationship works not only because of that trust between the organizations, but also because of Averitt's care,” Jim says. “We know and are extremely confident that Averitt cares about doing the right thing for Cracker Barrel. It cares about servicing our business in a way that makes sense and provides mutual value.” We’re proud of the atmosphere we’ve developed with Cracker Barrel through the years, and we look forward to building our partnership even more in the future! “Our relationship has grown over the years, and it’s very strategic,” explains Dedicated Director of Operations CLINT EDEN . “At the beginning, we were doing the basic ‘blocking and tackling’ of delivering freight with our Dedicated team.” Now, we’ve developed into a true example of The Power of One. DRIVING PASSION AND REWARDS

Richard Meyers’ Journey with Red Thinkin' Rewards

Richard has been collecting watches for more than 30 years, amassing an impressive collection that now boasts 51 timepieces. Thanks to his Red Thinkin’ Rewards , Richard has added 10 new watches to his collection over the years. "I love the program and love the rewards," Richard shares with enthusiasm. "It gives you something to look forward to and encourages you to do your best job to earn points." An eight-year member of our team, Richard appreciates how the RTR program goes beyond the usual expectations between a company and its associates. "I have never worked for a place with a program like this; it helps you feel like more than just a number, as someone who is valued," he says. The benefits of the RTR program extend beyond Richard himself. He often shares the rewards with his family, checking the RTR store to see if there's something they might want. Sharing this benefit with his loved ones adds another layer of satisfaction and pride. We believe in recognizing and rewarding the professionalism and dedication of our associates. Our Red Thinkin' Rewards program is a testament to this commitment, offering our associates the opportunity to earn points and spend them in the RTR store. For RICHARD MEYERS, one of our Cincinnati city drivers, the RTR program has become much more than just a reward system; it’s a way to enrich his passion.

TEAMING UP FOR A LEGACY

Associates Step Into Memorial Walkathon

HR associate DAVID WALKER says one of Lori's loves was walking. She was known for her morning walks, where she would reflect and pray while watching the sunrise. "We wanted to do something to honor her, and that's how the memorial walk came about," he explains. The event, which took place in May, was more than a walk; it was a celebration of Lori's spirit and the impact she had on everyone she met. Participants wore T-shirts emblazoned with her uplifting phrase, "We got this." "Lori was the best person. She did not have a mean bone in her body," says David. The walkathon also served as a fundraiser, with over $500 raised for Empower Upper Cumberland, an organization supporting low-income families. "We wanted to find something we could do with the same heart that In a heartfelt tribute to a cherished colleague, our corporate Human Resources team recently held the inaugural Lori Wester Memorial Walkathon.
