Dear Cattlemen & Cattlewomen, Welcome to the 3rd Edition of the Motherlode Female Sale, Saturday, September 21st, 2024. We are looking forward to welcoming our friends, long-term and new, to our Lazy J Grand Lodge on Friday (9/20) for our Pre-Sale Event and Saturday for the Motherlode Angus Female Sale. This event will mark the first time that we have held a sale at the Lazy J Grand Lodge, and we are excited to hold many more there in the future. There will be plenty of space there for the sale and after for everyone to visit during our post-sale gathering. Sale cattle will be displayed nearby at the ranch as in the past. Our Motherlode program reflects our decades-long passion for great cows and our belief that those sound, functional, productive cows that breed back every year are the foundation of profitable cow-calf operations across America. This breed needs greater focus on making that type of cow and making them with great regularity; we aim to be The Source for those genetics. If you are new to the Angus breed or just haven’t visited Jorgensen cow herd for a while, we invite you to take a look at our cow herd. You will find cows in our herd that reflect our 60+ years of breeding & balanced-trait selection for Reproduction, Growth to Yearling, Carcass Merit, and Feed Efficiency. We hope you will notice that we have stacked great cows in our pedigrees – generation after generation after generation. More than 25% of the cows in this offering have eight (8) or more consecutive generations of maternal ancestors that earned Progeny ratios for WW or YW equal to 100 or higher. Those strings of maternal ancestors span as many as 63 years of Jorgensen breeding and selection. Our goal is to keep breeding cattle that way, so we and our customers can be around another 60+ years, and then pass it along to more generations. On Saturday, September 21st, we will be offering you the opportunity to add our generations of selection to your herd. We will be selling all of our Varsity cows born in 2019, along with many younger cows, plus Pathfinder cows, Elite donor cows, and bred heifers. There are over fifteen different cow families represented in this offering, and we think you will find plenty of females that will fit your breeding program. We welcome you to visit us, in-person, at our headquarters to view these females or you can view the videos through DVAuction.com or Superior Livestock.com. It has been our honor to supply the Angus breed with top-of-the-line genetics for over 50 years. Like any successful business, we are dependent on good people, good customers, and good relationships.
