HOW TO KILL YOUR MISSIONARIES WITH KINDNESS by Jean Cerling Allen 1. Write two weeks before they leave the field and ask them to bring 450 souvenirs for your annual missionary confer ence. 2. Stop their support as soon as they get home. 3. Schedule your annual mis sionary conference the week after they get home so they can bring a message “ fresh from the field.” 4. Give them an old car — just good enough to keep them from junking it, and just de crepit enough so they worry constantly about getting to their meetings on time — and spend a small fortune to keep it rolling. 5. Invite them to speak for the evening service, and when they arrive to set up their dis play and equipment, ask them to take over the young people’s meeting too. 6. If their field is New Guin ea, introduce them as “ our missionaries to the islands off South America,” and if they are from Japan, present them as “ our dear fr iends from Hong Kong.” 7. Mention only casually at the beginning of the service that there will be an offering plate at the rear door, then.. . . 8. Invite everyone out the side exit after the service for coffee and cake. 9. Announce that the mis sionary committee has met in special session and decided to take on $50.00 a month support of the missionaries who were there LAST week! 10. Wait until they have bought all their equipment, then have a wonderful surprise shower on them. qqj

'But prove yourselves doers of the Word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. . .

And the things which you have heard . . . these instruct to faith ful men, who will be able to teach others also.” (James 1 :22 ; II Tim. 2 :2 NASB) The effective educator must see Christian Education in its most salient quality— not just ideas, but implementation! The purpose of the Christian Education training at Talbot Theological Seminary is to produce educators totally qualified. This occurs when they are not only completely equipped in theory, but through a consistent learning- while-doing program they become accomplished in that crucial step of reducing that theory to practical, efficient operation. Effective training in Christian Education provides not only the basic blue print for the job to be done, but gives, as well, the pragmatic proficiency in implementing it into lives to the end that they may also reproduce. This is the Talbot perspective!
