WHERE IS VANCE HAVNER? What happened to Vance Havner? I looked in vain for an article in the last issue of your magazine. These articles have been such a blessing, and I have been amiss in not writing to say so. I am compiling a file of Dr. Havner’s articles, hoping you will be publishing more soon. The editorials are timely and inspiring and really appreciated. Mrs. Idora White, Bakersfield, Calif. E ditor ’ s N ote : Reader s o f T H E KING’S BUSINESS are always in vited to send in their comments con cerning the various items which ap pear in the magazine. We welcome and value your suggestions. We have a number of Dr. Havner’ s articles on hand which will appear in forthcoming issues. KB FOR MISSIONARY Sometime ago we sent ten dollars to Biola for three subscriptions to THE KING’S BUSINESS, the fourth one to be sent to some missionary. We re ceived a nice letter from the party it was sent to. Wasn’t that nice of him to thank us. He said “ It is a good book.” We agree with him and have enjoyed it for many years. Mr. and Mrs. J. Den Hollander, Pasadena, Calif. I feel you have missed the mark in your political editorial in March, 1967 KING’S BUSINESS. Your two basic assumptions are erroneous. The first, that America is in danger of losing its Christian character. The second that the agent responsible is the United States Supreme Court. Have you looked at American society lately? Americans are basically material not spiritual. America has no Christian character. Historically the Supreme Court is famous for its lack of con sistency. Plessy V. Ferguson is the prime example. What today seems shocking tomorrow will be forgotten. The tragedy for America is not a lib eral Supreme Court. The tragedy for America is that the American Church has failed to make Christ the center of its existence. John P. Sutton, Whittlor, California ENJOY ARTICLES AND COVERS “ Recently I was given several maga zines to read, among which was THE KING’S BUSINESS. I was impressed with its meaty articles and worth-while reading, to say nothing about its beau tiful covers and format. Therefore, I am sending in my subscription here with.” Mabel Anderson, Minneapolis, Minn. SEPTEMBER, 1967 MISSED THE MARK IN OUR EDITORIAL?

who’stodry hertears? These little ones have one thing in common—they’re nobody’s children. They’re on their own—with no one to dry their tears, quiet their anguish and fears, feed their gnawing hunger, fill the emptiness in their lives. No one, that is, until Compassion takes them in and gives them a Home. Isn’t that the least they deserve? Compassion dries the tears of thousands

Day after day many o f these little chil dren find their way to one o f Compas sion’s 171 Homes. Here, nearly 22,000 children are clothed, fed, sheltered, edu cated and trained in a Christian atmos phere. And loved as children should be. How can Compassion do this? Simply,

through the sympathy and generosity o f thousands of warm-hearted Americans from aU walks o f life who sponsor one or more o f these little ones. Your sponsorship will say, “ I care” Think how much a real live “ Mommy” or “ Daddy” would mean to these children. Support? Yes, but more important, a real live “ parent” who truly cares and expresses tender love. Today, with the modest investment of $10 a month you can say, “ I care.” Your life wiU radiate with joy as you share letters, photos and other remembrances with “ your” little boy or girl. Will you choose one today?
