Pediatric Specialists are the primary customer segment followed closely by General Practitioners treating pediatric patients. A third customer segment includes General Practitioners treating patients who have economic considerations making stainless steel a more viable treatment option vs. other more aesthetic options. Why would someone need a Permanent Crown? First Permanent Molars, often referred to as the six-year molar, can erupt in children by the age of 6-7. In some cases, pediatric patients have permanent molars erupt that are hypocalcified due to amelogenesis imperfecta, an inherited condition that affects the teeth and causes weakened enamel. This condition cannot be reversed, and therefore may potentially require restorative treatment to prevent decay and relieve tooth sensitivity. What is the intended use for a Permanent Crown? HuFriedyGroup Stainless Steel permanent crowns are intended to fill the need for long term provisional coverage on permanent molars. Can these crowns be re-sterilized? This product is single use only (disposable) and not meant to be re-sterilized. Primary concerns with re-sterilization include introduction of microbes into the body due to reuse of the item which may have
been contaminated during its first use. Do these crowns contain Nickel?
Yes, our crowns do contain some Nickel as do almost all stainless steel crowns on the market today. HuFriedyGroup crowns contain no more or less than the competitive products. Patients with Nickel sensitivity may require another material (ex. Zirconia) as opposed to stainless steel.
