Symposia Advancing Comprehensive Early Childhood Intervention S7.04 Early Childhood Intervention and Professional Development: Bridging the Gap Between Research and Practice Symposium Organizer: Joana M Mas (Spain) Affiliation : Ramon Llull University Despite the literature supporting the use of Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) in Early Childhood Intervention (ECI), different studies suggest that the use and adoption of these practices is still a challenge for many practitioners. Capacity-Building Professional Development (CB-PD) programs have proven effective in facilitating the adoption and use of EBP by ECI practitioners. Likewise, the fidelity of the implementation and intervention practices, as well as the practitioners’ self-efficacy beliefs, are shown to be key variables when it comes to understanding the different factors that explain the effectiveness of any PD process. This session will focus on the design, implementation, and evaluation of a CB PD program on three EBPs. The main purpose of the program is to test a theoretical model that shows the relationship between the different variables that intervene in these training and transfer processes. This is a longitudinal, quasi-experimental, time-series study. A total of 7 ECI centers from different autonomous communities (coordinators, practitioners, and families) in Spain, and a team of 4 trainer dyads participated in the study. The variables studied are: (a) CB PD practices fidelity, (b) EBP practices fidelity, (c) practitioners self-efficacy believes, and (d)social validity.
