WORLD SEA TURTLE DAY, JUNE 16TH 2024

“No one is without power. Everybody has the capacity to do something.” —Dr. Sylvia Earle
i have a profound love for the ocean . I’ve had the privilege to call it home and understand the urgent need to protect it. What I didn’t understand, until now, was what I could do to help our blue planet. My career as an artist and songwriter has taught me how powerful music can be. So I figured, it’s about time I put that power to use. The Power In Us Project is a movement. The project exists to connect important environmental conservation works with popular music through creative collaborations. The objective is to provide a space where conservation and music can come together to make a stronger impact and amplify the voices of environmental conservation. It started with a song. Power In Us began as a heartfelt tribute to the Earth, a song inspired by those working tirelessly to protect it. Released on World Oceans Day in June 2023, it donates 100% of its streaming revenue to three carefully chosen organizations dedicated to ocean conservation: Mission Blue, Ocean Generation, and Live Ocean. This was bigger than a song, it had to be. When I closed my eyes to imagine what the song would look like, I never imagined it could be as beautiful as Mother magazine. Nonetheless, I had to take my chance. In July 2023, after stalking every photo and photographer that Mother had ever crossed paths with, I sent a message to founder and editor-in-chief Melissa Schäfer. The magazine has become a beacon of hope and empowerment for women worldwide, showing that storytelling and photography can make a change. I asked if Mother would be the first collaboration for the Power In Us project. Two days later, these two worlds came together to harness the power of music and media on a cosmic level. We created a platform for female creatives who’s visual stories of our natural world would become the official music video for “Power In Us.” We knew that this song, together with their wild footage of our planet, would serve as a reminder that the power to make the transformative change our planet so desperately needs lies within each of us. Because everybody has the capacity to do something—and we have the film to prove it. The official music video for “Power In Us” premiers on World Sea Turtle Day, June 16th 2024, on all platforms worldwide and will mark the public launch of the Power In Us project. 100% of the streaming revenue for this film will be donated to SeaLegacy to further the collective power of storytelling for conservation. —Anderson Rocio We don’t just build a platform where women come together to share their passion and love for mother nature, where we can move mountains and speak freely. We also come together as friends who support each other. We are Mother , and the power lies in all of us to make a change. It’s time to do it. —Melissa Schäfer
