guest, the mother asked him to give thanks. The man’s voice trembled a little as he made the simple prayer. Mary Ellen raised her head, and her eyes widened with astonishment at the look on her mother’s face as she sat leaning forward, gazing with mingled joy and uncertainty upon the stranger. “ T h om a s ! ” Mo t h e r e x c l a i m e d . “ Tom . . .” “Little Sister!” And then there were tears, and joy, and explanations, all so mixed together that Mary Ellen never did know whether she ate any Easter morning breakfast or not. At the close o f that wonderful day, Mary Ellen sat on the stool at her mother’s knee and listened as the new-found uncle read the evening chapter, the story of the resur rection day: “ ‘Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came . . . He . . . is risen . . . And they talked together o f all these things which had happened . . . Jesus himself drew near, and went with them . . . The Lord is risen indeed . . . Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures.’ ’’ Mary Ellen’s face was very thoughtful, joyfully thoughtful. “Motherdee, Uncle Tom 1 Our Easter has been so like the day when Christ arose, as though the Lord Jesus has come and has made us under stand that He is risen!” The others nodded, and a little silence fell on the three whose hearts were full of worship and love. Then, smiling into dear Mary Ellen’s eyes, Uncle Tom said gently, “And we are to be His witnesses to the fact that He arose.” Mary Ellen nodded and breathed softly, “ That the Lord is risen indeed!” An Easter Flower Easter time is flower time. The hillsides are made beautiful and fragrant by flowers of all kinds. How we enjoy picking the delicate springtime flowers, and how thankful we are to our heavenly Father for making them every one! Let us draw a flower in our notebooks. Yes, you may use your crayolas. Let us first draw a circle with the yellow crayon. This will form the center of our flower, and since this is to be a resurrection flower, we will write “ Christ” within the yellow circle. He always should be in the center o f our lives, shouldn’t He? Then with other crayolas draw petals about the yellow center. We will let each petal represent some blessing that has be come ours because the Lord Jesus arose from the dead on that wonderful resurrec tion day so long ago. In Romans 10:9 we read: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.' life; and they shall never perish . . . ,” He said in John 10:28. In 1 Corinthians IS, we can find many lovely petals for our flowers. Read verses 17, 19, 20 and 51-53. Because He did arise from the dead, we may make a petal of “ Faith” and “Hope” and “Resurrection,” for we who believe in the Lord Jesus look forward to a day when we shall be changed into His likeness. What a wonderful day that will be !;,Then we shall live with Him forever in the beautiful home He has gone to prepare. “Let not your heart be troubled,” He said to His disciples before He went away, and He gave them the rea son: “I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:1, 2). Let us then write “ Heavenly Home” on another petal. (You may add other petals.) What a lovely flower we have! And all of these precious blessings are ours, boys and girls, because on that glad resurrec tion day the Lord Jesus'lived again, and the angels could truly announce, “He is risen.” Now we will finish our flower by draw ing a long green stem and by writing on it “The W ord of God,” for we find all of these wonderful truths in God’s Book, the Bible.—M. S. H. I Know Christ Loves Us B y E stella E . H ow es I know Christ loves us, Oh, so much ! To leave His home on high And come to earth, a little Child, For us to live and die. I know Christ loves us, Oh, so much! For when He left the grave, He called the children His own “lambs” That He had come to save. I know Christ loves us, Oh, so much! And though He’s gone away, He said He’d come for us some day And take us Home to stay. Memory Work During the month o f March we will memorize the answers to the following questions: Question: What did the Lord Jesus do for the sinner? Answer: “ But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sin ners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8). Question: Who “taketh away the sin of the world” ? Answer: “ The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin o f the world!” (John 1 :29). Question: Where are the believer’s sins?
