Himself is with us, and will never fail those who put their trust in Him. jjeg-F. J. H orsefield . APR IL 20 Faith Came Singing “ He hath put a new song in my mouth” (Psa. 40:3). Faith came singing into my room, And other guests took flight; Fear and anxiety, grief and gloom, Sped out into the night. I wondered that such peace could be, But Faith said gently, “Don’t you see, They cannot really live with me I” Grant me this faith, O Lord, I pray, Leading to vict’ry day by day, Opening wide heaven’s gate to me, Flooding the soul with melody. __________ — S elected . APR IL 21 In the Heavenlies with Christ "Set your affection on things above” (Col. 3:2). Christ has ascended to heaven as our representattive, and in that capacity ever lives to make intercession before the throne. As our Great High Priest, He has entered the “holy of holies,” and His presence in the land o f eternal glory is in itself a pledge that we who belong to Him will assuredly enter upon the enjoyment o f the place He has gone to prepare. We cannot tell how soon He may return . . . In the meantime, while we wait for His return, let us pray that we may in heart and mind ascend into the heavens where He has gone, “and with Him continually dwell.”— F . J. H orsefield .

out a witness. He is still among us. His Spirit is still our Comforter and Guide . . . Day by day, in all our walk and conver sation, we may be filled unto all the full ness of GodH -Life o f Faith. Gracious Spirit, dwell with me; I myself would gracious b e ; And with words that help and heal Would Thy life in mine reveal. ^ H - T h o m a s T oke L y n c h . "Christ Jesus, who o f God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sancti fication, and redemption” (1 Cor. 1:30), The wisdom o f God is that which em braces all other gifts of His grace, right eousness, sanctification, and redemption. It is in Christ that we have the full dis play of divine wisdom. God’s wisdom is seen in the way the great problem of hu man redemption is solved. The salvation wrought in Christ is not only the manifes tation of infinite mercy, but also of the strictest justice, and perfect righteousness and truth. How could the sinner be saved and, at the same time, all the attributes of God be glorified? It is in the cross of Christ that we see that problem solved. In the solution of that problem we have the display o f divine wisdom. — E v a n H . H o p k in s . APR IL 24 All Things in Christ

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). I’ve found a sweet peace that the world cannot give, A rest that the world does not know ; A joy that no mortal can e’er take away, A Friend that will never let g o ! Though weakest, and poorest, and less than the least, A wonderful Saviour have I, Who showers my pathway with blessings below, And plans me a home in the sky! My Jesus can turn all the water to wine, The desert to sweet water-springs. I give Him my weakness, He gives me His strength; In Him I’m possessing all things I — E d ith L . H e n n e s sa y . APR IL 23 God with Us “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you fo r ever” (John 14:16). The power of the Holy Spirit is avail able for the weakest believer. In Him we may be made strong. Through Him we make a good confession. As the result of his mighty working in our hearts, we may call sinners from darkness to light. We may storm the strongholds o f evil, and be more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. . . .
