A Message from CEO Erik Geizer (Continued)
Lexington Tour
September brought us a special opportunity to celebrate our Direct Support Professionals during DSP Recognition Week. These unsung heroes are the backbone of our services, tirelessly supporting individuals and their families. Their commitment is truly inspiring and deserves our deepest gratitude. Now, as we move into October, we shift our focus to National Disability Employment Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the contributions of people with I/DD in the workforce. This month reminds us of the importance of inclusion and the incredible potential that exists when we empower individuals to thrive in their careers. I’ve had the privilege of visiting several Chapters recently, witnessing firsthand the impactful work being done on the ground. These visits have reinforced my belief in our mission and the difference we are making together as we celebrate 75 years of opportunity. Together, we are stronger. Together, let’s continue to advocate for a brighter future for all individuals with I/DD and the people who support them. The Arc Chemung- Schuyler’s Annual Meeting
Over the summer, I joined The Justice Center's Acting Executive Director Maria Lisi- Murray and Executive Deputy Director Robert Miller along with The Arc New York’s Director of Quality, Compliance & Chapter Relations Joshua Christiana at The Arc Lexington (Fulton, Schoharie) to tour day programs, residences and meet with individuals and staff. We even got to hear some live music from FLAME The Band, and we were generously gifted a piece of artwork – a mixed-media piece, created by Martin Diaz.
In July, I had the honor of serving as a keynote speaker at The Arc Chemung-Schuyler’s Annual Meeting, held at the beautiful Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel. During this inspiring event, we celebrated individuals who exemplify the spirit of independence in their daily lives. To see their remarkable stories and hear what independence means to them, you can watch the video here.
