CollegeWorks Graduation

In July, I had the honor of joining Jack Mudge, Executive Director of Mountain Lake Services (Essex County), Robin Pierce, Executive Director of the Advocacy and Resource Center (Clinton County), and Stanfort Perry, CEO of AHRC Nassau, at the Executive Mansion with Governor Kathy Hochul to celebrate Disability Pride Month and the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). I am grateful for the invitation to this significant event and deeply appreciate Governor Hochul's commitment to advocating for people with disabilities. I had the pleasure of attending the graduation ceremony for The Arc Oneida- Lewis' CollegeWorks Class of 2024 earlier this week. CollegeWorks is a unique two-year, non- degree certificate program designed specifically for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Offered on a college campus, it provides students with an enriching college experience while helping them develop the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful transition to independent adulthood. This post-secondary program paves the way for greater independence and overall well-being, empowering students with the skills and confidence to lead fulfilling and productive lives.
