Rensselaer’s Gala

In late September, I had the privilege of speaking at The Arc of Rensselaer County's annual gala! This year’s event honored Diane Dearborn with the prestigious Henrietta Messier Award. After more than 20 years of dedicated service on The Arc Rensselaer’s Board of Directors, Diane recently retired. She played a crucial role as chair of the Guardianship Committee and made significant contributions to Incident Review and Adult Supports, all while being a passionate parent advocate in the Troy School District. Additionally, Diane served on The Arc New York’s Board of Governors and co-chaired The Arc New York’s Guardianship Committee, helping to establish its By-laws. Congratulations, Diane!

I was thrilled to check out Mozaic’s (Cayuga, Seneca, Tompkins, Yates) newly unveiled Center for Community, Arts, and Technology in September. The Center expands access to integrated, inclusive services for people with developmental disabilities and the greater community—all under one roof. Mozaic estimates they will serve 2,000 people through the Center each year, offering access to services that improve the health and well-being of the community, from the arts, to job training, to health care.

Denim & Diamonds

I had a fantastic time at Liberty ARC's (Montgomery, Schenectady) Denim and Diamonds country music BBQ in late September. There’s nothing like country tunes and a bit of bling to lift your spirits!
