Our venues

The Great Hall

Great Hall is our Performing Arts Centre, available to hire by external organisations during school holidays. The venue is suitable for a wide range of events including theatrical performances, music concerts, lectures, exhibitions, holiday courses and rehearsals. Great Hall is also an ideal conference venue, with a large auditorium and several breakout rooms, plus a range of catering options and in-house support team. We offer an inclusive delegate rate or room-only options.

The Sports Complex

The Leys Sports Complex - operating under the title of Leys Leisure - has a range of indoor and outdoor facilities including Sports Hall, Gym, Swimming Pool and Climbing Wall, which are available to hire by individuals and groups during evenings, weekends and school holidays. We also offer various holiday activities, swimming lessons, tennis lessons, kickboxing lessons and lifesaving courses.

The Chapel

The School Chapel is one of the most beautiful buildings on campus, offering pupils a restful haven from the busy demands of the school day. It was built as a memorial to the first headmaster of The Leys, William Fiddian Moulton and was consecrated on 27 October 1906. It is a Grade II listed building.

The Music School

The Music School houses the Winton Thomas Recital Hall, with supporting classrooms and practice rooms available to hire during school holidays.

Job Description

Role Title: Director of Events and Domestic Services Location: The Leys School Responsible for: Events, Domestic Services Manager, Sports Facilities Manager, Theatre Manager Responsible to : The Bursar Responsibility for:

• The management of all school events • The management of all external lettings • The Sports Complex • Great Hall • Domestic Department Key tasks:

• Manage and promote events and lettings of all school facilities, both within the school and to the wider local community, and develop effective mechanisms to gather feedback from users, as part of a system of continuous improvement. • Responsible for the following processes in relation to the management of commercial hire of venues on site; event planning/management as well as managing the operation and accounting processes. • Represent the school at external events and liaise with external agencies as appropriate. • Support and develop the Events Manager/department to ensure the department runs effectively. • Support and develop the Domestic Services Manager/department to ensure the department runs effectively. • Support and develop the Sports Facilities Manager/department to ensure the department runs effectively. • Support & develop the Theatre Manager/Great Hall to ensure the department runs effectively. • Chair the School Events Committee. • Manage all finances relating to departments of responsibility. 8

• Ensure that Health and Safety policies and procedures are observed and updated for all departments of responsibility. • Maintain all legislative requirements/record keeping relating to Health and Safety. • In conjunction with the HR Manager, ensure that all staff management processes are managed effectively e.g., recruitment, induction, training & development & appraisals etc.

General General Tasks:

• To refer to and adhere to all Health and Safety procedures and policies as appropriate and other legislative requirements as required, carrying out duties by working in a safe and organised manner. • To ensure that a safe / secure environment exists for pupils / staff and customers and meet requirements under the Health & Safety at work Act 1974 and C.O.S.H.H. • To uphold the provisions of data protection legislation, the School’s Data Protection Policy, and other related policies. • Understand and be mindful of the School Acceptable Use Policy and Staff ICT & Social Media Guidelines. • To adhere to and maintain School Policies and Procedures and work with regard to the ethics of the School. • To observe / implement all relevant legislative requirements, maintain and update own knowledge as appropriate for the role. • To work flexibly as necessary to meet the needs of the role and the School. • To undertake any other reasonable associated request from the Bursar, or other senior member of SMT as appropriate. • To adhere at all times to the School’s Child Protection procedures and to undertake responsibility to safeguard pupils. • To be aware of and adhere to at all times the School code of conduct and confidentiality. • To refer to and adhere to all Health and Safety procedures and policies as appropriate and other legislative requirements as required, carrying out duties by working in a safe and organised manner. 9

Qualifications / Education / Specialist skills

• Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.

• A high standard of literacy and numeracy.

• Knowledge or experience of managing all or any of the following: o Sports Complex o Theatre o Domestic Services • Level 2 or equivalent understanding of health and safety requirements – ability to undertake risk assessments.

• Experience of running indoor and outdoor events. • Project and people management. • Financial management and budgeting.

This will include working some evenings and weekends. • To be committed to on-going personal development and the development of the team. • An enthusiastic and responsible team player with the ability to work with limited supervision.
