CROSS COUNTRY TO CRASH SCENES Running Toward Understanding

Women Who Soar Six Eagle pilots, divided into three teams, from Embry-Riddle’s Prescott Campus, competed in the 2025 all-women Air Race Classic. This event spanned 2,425 miles across seven legs, from Fairhope, Alabama, to Spokane, Washington. Competition focused on precision flying, navigation skills and endurance, all while building camaraderie among aviators. In a competition with 43 teams and over 90 pilots, Embry-Riddle’s teams finished in the top 10. The “Rattlesnake” team, featuring Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Brianna Francis (’24) and Aeronautics student Gwendolyn Pasternacki (’26), claimed an impressive fourth place, completing the race in 15 hours, 35 minutes and 14 seconds. The “Ringtail” team, with CFI Julie Bengoa (’25) and alumna Megan Amoako (’25), finished eighth. Bengoa emphasized that the race celebrated the determination and legacy of women in aviation. The “Roadrunner” team, consisting of Bella Memeo (’25) and Yuka Noguchi (’18, ’24), landed in ninth place, with Memeo piloting the final leg back to her hometown of Spokane. Together, these Eagle teams showcased Embry-Riddle’s commitment to excellence in this celebration of women in aviation.
