Rembrandt Collection of Exclusive Finishes

Whilst creating this collection of exclusive finishes we were inspired by the great Dutch Master of Art Rembrandt van Rijn. Known for masterpieces painted in the same age MHB was founded.

With the Rembrandt Collection of Exclusive Finishes you are able to choose from a unique range of high quality design surfaces.

MHB’s exclusive finishes consist of a high quality design surface currently only applied for super yachts, luxury interiors and museums like the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

These exclusive finishes are made by applying a unique technique involving a combination of MHB’s super durable inhouse powder coating with a design surface consisting of actual bronze, tin, manganese and brass. By applying different sanding, polishing and patina techniques an almost indefinite possibility of textures, structures and color effects can be achieved.

Actual metal finishes

The surfaces of MHB’s exclusive finishes consist of the actual metal, for example bronze, in its solid form. These surfaces have the physical and optical properties of the metal used and will take on a unique and characteristic look. You can choose to further refine the characteristics by sanding, polishing, patinating or oxidising the surface. The metal design surface will evolve in the same fashion as the metals would in its solid and original form. Color variation may occur between different frames as this is a normal characteristic of the metals used. Over time this will give the frame an even more unique appearance. Sanding, polishing, patinating and oxidising is very labour intensive and is real craftsmanship done by hand, giving every frame a unique character. Minor differences in color, color effect and texture may occur. Characteristic within its kind, but always different. For all configurations MHB advises to use the aluminium L-shaped or triangle shaped glass stops, for optimal results.

Testing MHB exclusive finishes have successfully underwent 3.000 hours of rigorous independent QUV-Testing and 720 hours of Salt Spray Testing according to the most stringent European quality norms (NEN-EN ISO 4892-3 and NEN-EN ISO 9227 NSS respectively). Based on the achieved positive testing results MHB is able to give a warranty of up to 5 years for a C3 corrosive environment.

Exclusive finishes process

1. Gritblasting SA 3.0 of the surface to create the perfect surface for adhesion.

2. Powdercoating primer is applied to achieve the best available protection against corrosion.

3. The different special design finishes are achieved by applying a thick layer of a range of different materials like bronze, brass, manganese and tin in liquid form. So we are not just trying to approach the color of these materials, we are applying the actual material. 4. By applying a mix of different grinding, polishing and sanding techniques in combination with a range of patinas the different desired structure, texture and color is achieved. 5. Finally we seal the material by applying a double layer of top of the line high performing liquid varnish. It will protect the special finish from color fading or the material from changing color.
