The BEST ARCHITECTURE of 2025

Size: 100,000± SF Athletic Complex
Location: Hanover, PA Size: 6,000 SF
New Construction, Community & Recreation Center The completion of the project was a realization of a vision that began in 2018 when DMR first worked with a developer and the township to create multiple development concepts that included eight acres for an ice arena. It also demonstrates a focused shift in municipal community -centered projects. By prioritizing the construction of an ice rink, the township demonstrated a focus on fostering a stronger sense of belonging, promoting wellness, attracting visitors, and investing in a revenue source. DMR designed the 84,000 s/f, twin-rink arena which offers a rental area, multi-purpose room, party room and a concession stand, in addition to support spaces. Both rinks include bleacher seating, as well as a second-floor balcony, offering the best view of the rinks, and marked with details on the floor designat - ing center ice, goalie creases and the blue lines. At rink one, a raised viewing platform adjacent to the lobby and concessions area provides a third, climate-controlled viewing experience through large glass windows. The symbolic lobby is notably marked by a Kalwall enclosure intended to represent an ice cube.
This project was especially compelling from an architectural standpoint due to the challenge of shaping a large, single-volume structure into a dynamic and functional space. Designing within the constraints of a dome required careful attention to proportion, circulation, and program integration, making it a uniquely rewarding architectural solution. The Brick Sports Dome is a large-scale indoor athletic complex designed to provide a flexible, year-round destination for recreational and competitive sports in Brick, New Jersey. The architecture centers on a clear-span dome structure that creates an expansive, unobstructed interior, allowing for adaptable multi-sport programming and spectator viewing. Supporting spaces were thoughtfully integrated to enhance circulation, functionality, and user experience while maintaining the visual simplicity of the dome form. The design balances scale, efficiency, and durability, creating a welcoming community asset that accommodates high-volume use while delivering a strong architectural presence within its surrounding context.
New Construction, Research & Development Facility The Precis team especially enjoyed this project because it represents the first phase of a master planning effort that involved a holistic campus concept redesign. It also has a number of sustainable design elements, such as natural daylighting, energy efficient fixtures and equipment, rainwater harvesting for plant irrigation, and a green room. It utilizes green building products on the interior and exterior, including products manufactured by J.M. Huber. It was a great opportunity to think creatively on small and large scales while considering long-term sustainability. Precis provided architecture and full engineering services to create a new state-of-the-art innovation center for J.M. Huber, a provider of industrial and consumer projects. The Miller Chemical Innovation Center includes three new R&D labs supporting fertilizer manufacturing, plus offices, meeting and collaboration areas, a kitchen and break room, a 1,100 s/f greenhouse beside a wet lab, and outdoor workspaces.
