VOLUNTEER! Looking for ways to get involved in the community? Consider volunteering with Shawnee County Parks + Recreation! SCP+R offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities — from working in our gardens and assisting at events to coaching youth sports and leading guided tours. You can even adopt your own park or trail, or create a custom project based on your passions and the needs you see in the community.
Adopt a Park / Trail Show your community pride by adopting one of Shawnee County’s 110 parks or 60 miles of trails through our Adopt-A-Park program. Groups help keep these spaces beautiful through monthly clean-ups and simple maintenance, building community pride and offering a great reason to get outside. Anyone can adopt — student groups, neighborhood associations, churches, businesses, or families — and we welcome all who want to help care for our parks and trails.
