This fall, across all athletic teams and events, the gospel was clearly shared with 1,396 people – including Word of Life student-athletes, opposing teams, and prospective students. By God’s grace, 24 individuals made decisions to trust Christ. Fall 2025 Athletics Gospel Impact
"After a game, a young man from the opposing school came to me because of what he said he saw in our team – love, respect, joy, and good sportsmanship. I told him it was the love of Jesus. By the end of our conversation, he gave his life to Christ as his Savior. Praise God! That same day, our team circled around a young woman who was interested in Word of Life Bible Institute and prayed for God’s direction in her life. It was an awesome day.
These moments often took place in locker rooms, on sidelines, during team meals, or in personal conversations after games. Many opportunities also came through interactions with opposing teams, where coaches and players intentionally shared Christ and built relationships that extended beyond a single competition. Follow-up is a vital part of this ministry. When someone trusts Christ, a member of our team connects with them personally, gathers contact information, and helps guide them toward next steps in their faith. We regularly recommend trusted
local churches near the schools we compete against and work to connect new believers with pastors in those areas. Through collaboration with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, players are encouraged to connect with FCA Huddles on their campuses – often a welcoming environment for students who are new to faith. By partnering with FCA missionaries and local church leaders, our prayer is that these students will grow in their relationship with Christ and become catalysts for evangelism and discipleship in their own communities.

A few seasons ago, I met a new opposing coach who told me he was a Christian but had not been serious about his faith. I encouraged him to fall in love with Jesus again through Bible reading, prayer, and church involvement. The next season, he greeted me with a hug and said, ‘I am not the same man you talked to last year. I have gotten serious about my relationship with Jesus.’ I am honored to represent Christ through the game.”

One opposing player who was Hindu listened politely when we shared the gospel. Months later, she told us she had been researching Christianity and said, ‘I cannot understand how someone can be saved without having to do anything. Please explain your gospel to me.’ We were able to clearly explain Jesus’ sacrifice and connect her with resources to continue learning.
