LONDON BOOK FAIR 2026

Spotlight on: Kay E. Thomson Book: Finding JOY In the Midst of Grief & Oh NO, Where Did He Go

LOGAN CRAWFORD: It's a great privilege to have you on the show. These are powerful books. Um, let's talk about inspiration. You lost your husband of 44 years and that was the driving force behind one of the books. Correct.

KAY E. THOMSON: Right. It's actually, Yes. It combines the two together, but it was the driving force. Yes.

LOGAN CRAWFORD: Yeah. And what's the message that you hope readers take away from finding joy in the midst of sorrow?

KAY E. THOMSON: I guess you could say so. My dad was a Methodist pastor. Um, and I went to a Christian camp once in the summer and I thought I understood accepting Christ, but then somehow I always felt that I was losing my salvation if I didn't do everything just right and I was never to do anything just right. So, um, but I when I turned 21, I heard a sermon in Los Altos, California that just turned my whole life around and I realized that yes, I had asked Christ to be my savior when I was 13 at that camp, but he didn't get the whole concept of it. And probably when I was young, I was embarrassed to say, 'Daddy, I don't get this.' Um, because he was busy helping other people and he loved us dearly, but you know, I just didn't want to be a burden. I should know what I'm doing, right? Yeah. But when I was 21, I understood fully what it meant to be a Christian and to walk with the Lord and I dedicated myself over again to Christian service and um never looked back.

LOGAN CRAWFORD: Wow, that's amazing. You really had an epiphany when you were there. Yeah. At that service, right?

KAY E. THOMSON: Right. Once you're saved, you can never lose it. And nobody can take you out of God's hand. And so that just really made a big impression on me and I thought I've been struggling all these years to be saved over and over and over when I was saved once. And so yeah, rededicating my life made a huge difference.

LOGAN CRAWFORD: Wonderful. Wonderful. Talk to us a little bit about joy. You refine it differently. You define it rather differently now than you have in the past. Tell us about that.
