The Benefits of Smart City
The economy, government and people are the main beneficiaries of smart city, primed to derive the most benefits from its development and implementa�on. As ci�es grapple with ever-increasing costs of delivering efficient services to their ci�zens, the effec�ve deployment of digital technologies would significantly improve performance, reduce costs and minimise environmental impact. This would result in improved liveability and workability standards for communi�es. The combina�on of efficient mobility, effec�ve resources management, together with a reliable digital infrastructure and the posi�ve a�tude of communi�es and the society at large, would further enhance city living. The ul�mate goal is to make city economies progressive and sustainable.
Where We Are on the Global Smart City Index
Figure 1-1 shows that Kuala Lumpur ranked 54 on the Global Smart City Index 2020 which ranks ci�es based on economic and technological data. Kuala Lumpur is the second city a�er Singapore among all major ASEAN ci�es in this ranking.
