Implemented to help Malaysian technology firms grow, both regionally and globally, through four pillars namely, market access, capital risks, technology refresh and visibility.

Provides a structured approach to digital transforma�on for Malaysian companies by leveraging the exper�se of digital transforma�on laboratories to help businesses adopt new digital technologies.

To implement a biometric registra�on system for all official iden�fying documents in an a�empt to boost na�onal security. A host of biometric tools and so�ware introduced by private companies, such as 5G Biometric workforce management systems with face biometrics and touchless technologies

SME Digitalisation Grant Scheme Penjana Smart Automation Grant SME Business Digitalisation Grant Smart Digital Transformation Acceleration Programme

The SME Digitalisa�on Grant Scheme and the Penjana Smart Automa�on Grant - to help SMEs and mid-�er companies to kickstart their digital adop�on journey and increase their digital capabili�es, suppor�ng businesses in growing projects that embrace technology in their opera�ons. The SME Business Digitalisa�on Grant implemented in partnership with MDEC and Bank Simpanan Nasional provides grants to encourage SMEs to adopt and u�lise digital applica�ons. By November 2020, a total of 5,634 applica�ons were received, with 5,087 being approved to receive a total of RM14.6 million matching grants. The Smart Digital Transforma�on Accelera�on Programme has helped companies to reach their digital goals and transforma�on journey supported by Digital Transforma�on Labs.

As seen above, Smart Economy ini�a�ves have also benefited consumers and small business communi�es as the government encourages the use of such apps as e-wallets and provides start-up and talent programmes for new and emerging entrepreneurs. Suppor�ng individuals and communi�es to be more digitally literate

and helping companies struggling with issues of financing and are s�ll grappling with accessing technology, help Malaysia make inroads into the smart economy. These ini�a�ves are also very much in tandem with the development of the Industry 4.0, aimed at driving digital transforma�on.
