Where We Are Heading Judging from innovaon trends and disrupve forces in urban mobility, it is realisc to envision a future scenario where smart city residents and visitors enjoy a wider range of affordable, mulmodal, on-demand mobility opons. Addionally, convenonal cars and ownership pracces are replaced by shared electric and autonomous vehicles. The Boston Consulng Group believes the widespread adopon of autonomous technologies could yield substanal benefits by eliminang road fatalies and improving travel mes by up to 40%. It could recover billions of hours lost to commung and congeson and generate total benefits to society worth USD1.3 trillion. It is predicted that close to 100% of new vehicles sold in 2025 in the developed world will be electrified (including hybrids). The rapid adopon and posive impact of electric vehicles will significantly reduce air polluon.
• MaaS combines and facilitates the use of mulmode transport and shared mobility services and enables payments via a single interface • This smart urban mobility soluon offers a mulmodal capability which bundles transport opons such as public transport, on-demand services, vehicle sharing, bike sharing and ride hailing • With access to the app, users can book and pay for mobility services through an integrated account Mobility Soluons as a Service (MaaS)
• Micromobility including systems and fleets of shared bikes and electric scooters • Micromobility systems complement each other while reducing trips from other modes • By using the mobile app, customers can book and unlock a free-floang scooter and pay only for minutes of usage • This e-mobility soluon aims to improve the customer's quality of life, contribute to urban sustainability, and reduce CO2 emission Micromobility Systems
• The driverless-vehicle technology is now being widely adopted in urban public transportaon. With more than 25 per cent driverless rail uptake and increasing adopon of autonomous buses in Asia, AV deploying a network of sensors, cameras, radar and LiDAR now ensure beer road safety and improve commute mes. Linking public transport to intelligent traffic control and management systems will increase energy efficiency, while reducing congeson • The technology currently is at inial concept stage and the realizaon on this mode of public transport will be the year of 2030 and beyond. Public Autonomous Transport
• There is an increased use of arficial intelligence and machine learning enabled intelligent traffic management soluon that provides decision support • These soluons offer intelligent traffic management services such as change of traffic light phases, road user informaon, and dynamic changes in traffic capacity • They are designed to help transport authories meet strategic goals by minimising vehicle emission levels and reducing traffic congeson in residenal areas Arficial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Traffic Management Soluon
Smart Travel Assistant
• Smart travel assistant focuses on the ‘complete trip’ by advising on the best me and method of transport to get to their desnaon, with real-me updates on traffic congeson and other unexpected delays • The soluon helps communies to develop comprehensive, seamless and efficient transportaon soluons to increase mobility access • The goal is to enable people to travel independently fromone point to another, regardless of the number of connecons, transfers or modes of transportaon • The programme focuses on holisc approaches that create more choices and beer access for aged communies, people with disabilies and underserved communies in rural and small urban areas
• An esmated 30% of traffic congeson in urban areas is caused by drivers looking for a parking space • A cloud-based smart parking soluon implemented in more than 15 cies worldwide provides parking managers with accurate data on parking space usage and also supports adapve street light management, intelligent traffic management and retail services for easy navigaon in a smart city Smart Parking
