Introduction
What is Smart Environment? Smart environment is defined as the deployment of appropriate technologies in creang more connected and comfortable urban environment, drawn frommuch-improved climate plans. Smart environment ensures that the built and natural environment provide the physical and mental well-being and all-round happiness of its habitants, as well as help to build a sustainable future. Aims of Smart Environment • To achieve a quality of life of cizens in housing areas. • To ensure environmental protecon. • To Increase city readiness towards disaster. • To improve accessibility, speed, efficiency and inclusivity in day-to-day acvies and business engagements. • To reduce carbon intensity. • To promote a wider applicaon of renewable energy and ensure energy efficiency. • To share informaon with cizens in order to empower and foster behavioural change.
Smart environment technologies aim to provide soluons to many environmental issues. As shown in Figure 8-1, the strategic technologies that form the fundamentals of smart environment are:
• Smart grid and renewable energies soluons to promote low-carbon and energy efficient ulies • Integrated and advanced disaster management system that provide early alerts and soluons to migate and reduce the negave impacts of disasters • Management system to preserve green spaces and beer management of tree inventories
• Smart water and non-revenue water management systems for beer water resources management • Smart waste management system to reduce the impact of improper waste disposal on the environment
