have been given to the poor. Then Jesus took Mary’s part and said she had done a good work on Him, for she had remem­ bered how Jesus had told them he could not be with them much longer, and she wanted to show her love to Him. Then He told them they would always have poor people among them, and they could help them at any time, but that He would not always be living on earth where they could give Him presents. Then Jesus said some­ thing very sweet about Mary to the people: “She hath done what she could.” And He also told them that Mary’s loving deed should be told where ever Jesus’ name was known and loved, and today after all these hundreds of years we are hearing about Mary and her great love for Jesus. Closing Prayer. —Thanking Jesus for His great love to us, and giving us a chance to love Him by making Him the gift of ourselves, and serving Him every day by doing the things that please Him.

to do nice things for them, and Mary, one of the. sisters of Lazarus, was just so anxious for evening to come for she had a surprise for Jesus, and now let us see what it was. At last the happy time had come, and Jesus and his disciples had gath­ ered around the table, and of course Lazarus was with them. His sister Martha was helping to serve the supper. While they were eating supper, Mary quietly slips around to the place where Jesus is eating, opened a bottle of the finest per­ fume she could buy, and poured it upon Jesus, letting every drop in the bottle fall on Him, and the odor of this precious per­ fume filled the house, and when the peo­ ple smelled it they were surprised, for they knew how fine it was and that it had cost a great deal of money, (about $50.00, or a man’s salary for a year in those days). But Mary loved Jesus and it made her very happy to make this costly gift for Jesus. One of the disciples, Jesus’ special friend, said the money the ‘perfume cost should
