THE KING’S BUSINESS

some stories about Jesus that were not true. Jesus told them He was God’s Son, and they would not believe Him, just like some people living today. At last they put a crown of thorns on Jesus’ head and mocked and made fun of him as they led him away up a steep road to a green hill where there were three wooden crosses. These wicked men took Jesus and nailed Him to one of the crosses, and stood it up in the ground. There were two thieves on the other crosses, one on each side of Jesus. During all this time Jesus was suf fering He never answered back to these wicked people or tried to get away from them, for He had lived such a beautiful life among them and tried to help them in every way, and yet His good life and deeds could not save people from sin, and so He was willing to die and give his life for others, so that every one that would believe on Jesus could be saved from their sins. While He was dying on the cross what do you think He did? Y„es, He prayed and asked God to forgive the men who had nailed Him to the cross. Then He told one of His disciples to take care of His mothèr. Jesus suffered all this pain and died on the cruel cross just because He loved us so much. Our Mem ory Verse tells us about this love of Jesus. Let us say it over a number of times. Some of Jesus’ friends took His body down from the cross, lovingly wrapped white linen cloths around with sweet perfumes and laid it away in a new tomb and rolled a big stone in front of the tomb. The enemies of Jesus had some soldiers stand in front of the tomb and watch it. Next Sunday we will finish the story and see what happened in the tomb. Closing Prayer .—Dear Jesus, we thank thee for coming down here and dying for our sins on the cross, and help us to love Thee every day.

any figures to represent people in this scene, but just tell the simple story). This picture tells a sad story but there is some thing very beautiful about it for it shows the greatest love the world ever knew, for we are going to hear how Jesus gave up his life to save us. Prayer.—Thanking Jesus for His great love for us, and helping us to remember every day how very much He loves us. Lesson Story .—Last week when we fin ished our story we left Jesus and eleven of His disciples in a beautiful garden at night. (Give children of Primary age a chance to explain Judas’ absence and main points in last lesson). This garden was a place where Jesus and His disciples loved to go and they had been' there many times before. Jesus went a little way from them and kneeled down and prayed, because He knew that in a little while He was going to die, so He asked God His Heavenly Father to comfort Him, and Jesus told His Father in this prayer that He was willing to die for the people because He loved them and wanted to save them from their sins. Now when Jesus had finished praying He told the disciples Judas was coming with some soldiers and officers to take Him away. Judas came up and kissed Jesus, so the soldiers would know which one was Him. Do you think there was any love in this kiss? No, if there had been love in Judas’ heart he could not have given Jesus away to those wicked men that hated Him, and too after Jesug had been such a loving friend to Judas and made him one of his disciples. The soldiers took Jesus a prisoner and marched away with him to the city where they did many cruel things to him, but they could not find one single wrong thing that Jesus had done, and so they knew they could not kill Him, and then they got some wicked men to tell
