Alleyn Club Yearbook 2017

The Old Alleynian Golfing Society Captain for 2017 : Jeremy Brewer (64-71) Hon. Secretary: Duncan Anderson (64-71) Email: oags2013sec @ gmail.com Web: www.dulwich.org.uk/old- alleynians/clubs/oa-golfing-society We have enjoyed another year of good golf playing some great courses. This year over 75 members played in our golf days and matches and we are fortunate to play some of the best courses in the South East at great rates including New Zealand, The Berkshire, Royal Ashdown and Worplesdon. Our members enjoyed playing competitive matches against old foes Whitgift at Tandridge, Loretto at New Zealand and Alleyns at Knole Park: great courses and good competitive handicap golf. The Annual Dinner in February at the East India Club started our year and was hosted by our Captain Mark Camp (63-70) who will be succeeded by Jeremy Brewer. The Spring Meeting at The Berkshire was won by Martin Clifford King (66-73) and the Autumn meeting at The Berkshire by Alistair Defriez (61-69). Mark

I would like to appeal to all OAs who are golfers to contact me, wherever you live and whatever your handicap. We were all privileged to go to a fine sporting school and particularly when our cricketing and rugby days are over we turn to golf. As the OAGS we continue to play with our contemporaries and against old rivals in the best sporting and competitive matches. Please join us. This year we were sporting our new society kit as can be seen in the photographs, which can be ordered from Glenmuir with a 33% discount. The website is https://www.glenmuir.com/OAGS. Finally with a sad heart I have to report the passing away of a former Captain this year in Ted Swaysland (44-48). He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.

Camp, our Captain, won the Dick Selleck Salver. We were drawn to play the Friday start at Royal St Georges in the Halford Hewitt and narrowly lost in the first round to Harrow. David Somerville (63-69) has stepped down from captaining our Cyril Gray team, the scratch over 50s Public Schools competition at Worplesdon and handed it over to Peter Foord (72-81). We would like to thank David for all his hard work over the years. Our veterans’ team at Tandridge came 2nd in the triathlon against Shrewsbury and Tonbridge, the first year we have not been victorious. Congratulations to Peter Dickinson (57-66) team Captain. This year Peter Hockless (67-74) will become Captain at The Wisley and we wish him all the best in the forthcoming year. We finished our year with our AGM, Christmas meeting and lunch at Wildernesse Golf Club in Sevenoaks. We received a very generous donation this year for the Youth fund which is now well endowed. We are hoping to subsidise the Spring and Autumn meetings for younger
