By 2019 I had survived the chemo, but the treatment was cut short because of multiple negative side effects. Next I endured two lumpectomies, and then a course of radiation. At this point I was told that I no longer required the Lyrica or Benzo, so I commenced tapering off these drugs, which is when my world literally fell apart.
I experienced massive anxiety, constant panic attacks, depression, suicidal ideation, endless wailing and crying, chronic fatigue, akathisia, insomnia, obsessive compulsive disorder, and my head hurt so much with brain fog and tinnitus. I also had no appetite for food. I was barely surviving, and was in constant terror with absolutely no ability to rest or relax. I couldn’t find peace because my body was literally screaming at me.
In 2019 my best friend came to collect me and take me back to Adelaide so he could help care and support me through this turbulent time. He became my carer over the coming years. I then commenced radiation treatment, but we had no idea of the horror that lay before us. Once I completed radiation treatment, I was given the all clear. but it came with a massive cost to my quality of life. I was experiencing constant mental and physical pain and symptoms, ceaseless anxiety and panic attacks.
