CORK QUEER ARTISTS The past year has been incredibly difficult for our musicians, writers, visual artists, poets, and designers etc. The absence of this culture

JIM CRICKARD Jim Crickard’s poetry is camp, entertaining work that explores culture, sexuality and identity with a hint of colour. In 2020 he was invited to represent Cork in the Cork-Coventry Twin City Exchange, which was moved online due to pandemic. In 2019 he was selected by Poetry Ireland for the inaugural Versify series, and performed to a sold out show at Dublin Fringe Festival. He came second in the 2019 All Ireland Poetry Slam Final (and is working through his feelings about it with a therapist). In 2018, he won the Cuirt Spoken Word Platform and was awarded a slot to perform at Electric Picnic. In 2020 his poetry was broadcasted on RTE Arena. A poem he wrote was shortlisted in the 2018 O’Bheal International Five Words Competition, and his work has been published in Automatic Pilot, A New Ulster, and Contemporary Poetry.

KODY THEO I am a filmmaker, screenwriter, and photographer. My goal as a creator is to build a platform and safe space for LGBT+ people, where they can see themselves living full, happy lives, and not being torn down by tragedy and pain. I aim to capture moments of beauty, peace, and harmony, showing the world that this is our community. We deserve joy. This is also why I helped create Queer Plus Productions, a production company ran completely by LGBT+ people. We understand the frustration of never feeling seen or heard, but we aim to bring that to an end.

Pauline’s work while nature based tend to include bodies of water, from large seascapes. However, living close to the beautiful woodlands of West Cork, has inspired Pauline to create paintings that give a sense of being immersed in those forests. She paints using oil on canvas, building up textures to create this feeling of depth.
