Sister Rosemary was a true force of nature. She ran an incredibly successful home for people with developmental disabilities that was both heartbreaking and heartwarming and did it with an amazing level of love and caring. She often met resistance from many directions but she always managed to find a way to get what was needed. Sister Rosemary will be missed by the many families Misericordia has served, by the people of Rogers Park, and definitely by those of us at S&C who had the privilege of knowing her.” n
Under her guidance, Misericordia grew into one of the nation’s most respected communities for people with disabilities, offering dignity, independence, and joy to thousands. Her unwavering faith and humanitarianism shaped a culture of compassion that continues to inspire. Being located across the street from S&C’s corporate headquarters, the company has proudly supported Misericordia for more than 50 years. It was a relationship that began in the 1970s when the late Chairman Emeritus John R. Conrad gifted a Christmas tree to welcome Misericordia as they relocated to the Rogers Park neighborhood. Sister Rosemary passed away peacefully at age 94, leaving behind a legacy of love, advocacy, and visionary leadership.
