Editor’s COMMENT CONFIDENCE IN THE FUTURE OF OUR CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY Congratulations to the winners of this year’s CEF Excellence Awards, profiled in our 25-page feature inside. From apprentices, lifetime achievers and sustainability innovators to key infrastructure projects and landmark multiple occupancy housing, the awards truly showcase the wide-reaching talent in Northern Ireland’s construction sector. A few very recent examples of outstanding construction projects, likely to feature in next year’s round of awards, are also profiled in this edition, including the flagship educational projects NRC Ballymena (Heron Bros) and St Ronan’s College in Lurgan (Glasgiven Contracts). Our news pages indicate confidence in the future of our construction industry with a £3m investment in new headquarters by both Bell Contracts in Cookstown and Glasgiven Contracts in Banbridge. The value of Northern Ireland firms in the wider market is also apparent, with acquisitions of Farrans by Irish construction giant Sisk and Lloyds Datum Group by SOCOTEC UK and Ireland. Alyson Magee
