Leading testing, inspection and certification services provider SOCOTEC UK and Ireland has acquired Lloyds Datum Group (LDG), a Belfast-based expert in foundation testing, structural monitoring, geotechnical and environmental systems. Representing SOCOTEC’s first office in Northern Ireland, the strategic acquisition enhances its capabilities in the infrastructure field, overall offering and presence in the island of Ireland. SOCOTEC also plans to supply LDG’s expertise across the UK, primarily in complex foundation and micro-piling projects. LDG, which comprises Lloyd Acoustics Limited and Datum Monitoring Ireland Limited, has more than 25 years of experience as a trusted provider of foundation pile testing, monitoring and civils. NEW £3M BANBRIDGE HEADQUARTERS UNVEILED BY GLASGIVEN CONTRACTS
Glasgiven Contracts Ltd has invested £3m in new Banbridge headquarters as it marks 40 years of excellence in construction across the island of Ireland. The new, purpose-built site will strengthen Glasgiven’s link to its regional office in Clonee, Dublin, while better positioning the company along the Dublin-Belfast economic corridor as it continues to grow its client base across the island of Ireland and strengthen its multi-disciplinary team. An official launch event was held for the new headquarters on September 11, attended by industry partners, clients, suppliers, current and former staff and
key dignitaries. Established in 1985 by its founding directors Liam Murphy and the late William Smith, the company name reflects the hometowns of each founder, Glasdrumman and Dungiven. The company is now led by three new directors, including Managing Director Cormac Murphy alongside Colm Rodgers and Vincent Small. The addition of Contracts Director Garry Farmer has further strengthened the senior leadership team, with Founder and Director Liam Murphy taking on a consultative role. www.glasgiven.com
IRISH CONSTRUCTION LEADER SISK TO ACQUIRE BELFAST-BASED FARRANS
Ireland’s largest construction and civil engineering company, John Sisk & Son, has reached agreement to acquire Farrans Construction from the building materials provider CRH.
Farrans is a leading Northern Ireland building and civil engineering contractor with 625 employees, delivering world-class projects in core sectors including aviation, water and renewable energy across Ireland and the UK. As part of the sale, which is subject to relevant regulatory approval, the Farrans business will continue to trade under its own brand and all project operations will continue as normal. With Sisk operating across Ireland, the UK and Europe, the acquisition is expected to unlock new opportunities for delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland.
