CITB NI OFFERS GRANTS TO SUPPORT CONSTRUCTION EMPLOYERS AND APPRENTICESHIPS, ALONGSIDE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT SEMINARS, HERITAGE SKILLS TRAINING AND MORE… Equipping the NI construction sector for progress & expansion

CITB NI is focused on skills and training for the NI construction industry, providing the support and services needed to ensure its businesses are equipped for progress and expansion. Recent figures from the Construction Workforce Outlook Labour Market Intelligence Report for Northern Ireland forecasts the volume of NI construction work will grow by an average annual rate of 2.3%. Figures also reveal that an additional 1,090 extra workers will be needed per year, totalling an extra 5,450 construction workers from 2025 to 2029. CITB NI offers grants ranging from £15 to £2,000 to support construction employers, with the widely-recognised scheme not limited to construction trades. Registered employers are encouraged to make use of the grant scheme to help improve skills within their workforce. Grant funds are easy to claim online via the website www.citbni.org.uk/grants.aspx Over the past eight years, more than 1,200 apprentices have also benefited from financial assistance through apprenticeship grants, reinforcing CITB NI’s dedication to nurturing new talent. In the current training year, CITB NI is offering business improvement seminars and workshops integrated with employer engagement, all held from 9.15am-1pm. Its Build Your Career – A Future in Construction programme runs bootcamps for students and collaborates with schools to promote industry careers. Recent partnerships with W5 and Cool FM allowed hundreds of year 10 and 12 pupils to sample hands-on construction experiences, with more bootcamps scheduled in the autumn. CITB NI also supports a Careers

Ambassador initiative, where industry professionals share their stories at careers fairs and school events. Resources including a dedicated careers web portal, www.citbni.org.uk/careers, provide invaluable guidance for students, teachers and parents. Promoting careers in construction to the youth market, CITB NI has recently launched a TikTok channel highlighting case studies and stories from construction career successes and giving an insight into career roles. Through its Training in Partnership scheme, CITB NI has invested over £1.8m in federations and representative bodies delivering targeted programmes such as Mental Health Training, Women in Plant and the Roofing Apprenticeship Scheme. Meanwhile, Scaffolding Training at Nutts Corner continues under the CISRS scheme, ensuring industry-recognised certification for workers in this high- demand area.
