INTERNAL JOINERY PACKAGE An internal joinery package, comprising certified fire and acoustic door sets with skirting and architrave, was delivered by Loughview Timber. Delighted to work on one of Northern Ireland’s largest single-build school projects to date, the family business supplied pre-hung door-sets compliant with the BM TRADA UKAS-accredited Q-Mark fire certification scheme. Niall McCartan, Director, said, “We worked closely with Glasgiven Contracts to coordinate logistics, achieving a tight turnaround with our joinery package to meet the project programme. STRUCTURAL & CIVIL ENGINEER
St Ronan’s College in Lurgan is a new 20,000sqm school providing accommodation for the long-term enrolment of 1,750 pupils. The project included site-wide redevelopment which, in addition to the main school building, included the construction of three sports pitches, satellite structures, two large permeable paved courtyards, internal roads and also hard and soft landscaping. The project presented many interesting challenges, including a sizeable cut-and-fill exercise, resulting in a split-level site, multiple structural forms and construction typologies being used together in different areas to meet the specific needs of each department and adapting the existing chapel into the new music block. The structure was designed with the future in mind, offering efficiency in material selection and structural form. BWM Ltd was delighted to work alongside Glasgiven Contracts and the rest of the design team to deliver this landmark D&B contract.
