Russell Johnson, Assistant Commissioner of Concessions at Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA). Since 2018, he has played a major role in the CDA concessions team as a Project Administrator/ Assistant Commissioner and have established an expertise in our concession’s programs at both O’Hare and Midway airports. Prior to that, I had ten additional years of experience in the concession’s programs of other venues, including the Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox, and the Cook County Forest Preserve. Prior to his roles in concessions, Russell spent 19 years in the pharmaceutical industry performing sales, marketing, and management roles. This range of experience is invaluable to the management of CDA’s concessions programs, bringing in a diversity of examples of successful enterprises. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Chicago State University and attended the MBA program at Howard University’s School of Business.

Dan Kierna is a highly accomplished airport operations executive with 17 years of experience in airfield management. As Assistant Commissioner of Airfield Operations for the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), he leads a fast-paced multidisciplinary team ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance at O’Hare International Airport. Dan began his aviation career as an Operations Supervisor at South Bend Regional Airport before joining the CDA in 2008. His expertise includes airfield safety, compliance, and major infrastructure projects. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management from Western Michigan University. Outside work, Dan enjoys traveling, family time, and a good craft beer.

Jessica Macias began her aviation career in 2021 as a Projects Administrator and now serves in the Chicago Department of Aviation’s Security, Regulatory, and Compliance Division. With experience in business operations and municipal auditing, she ensures compliance with TSA, federal, and airport security regulations for both O’Hare and Midway International Airports. At O’Hare, Jessica played a key role in opening the new Terminal 5 extension, verifying that more than 200,000 square feet met all security standards. She later transitioned to Midway, where she strengthened partnerships with tenants and contractors and improved compliance processes. Committed to safety and education, Jessica launched a biannual training program to keep airport employees informed on evolving regulations and best practices. Her leadership and dedication help foster a culture of awareness and security across Chicago’s airports.helps strengthen the safety culture across Chicago’s airports, ensuring that everyone who works in or travels through them experiences a secure and efficient environment.
