“ I had a very fun time there, plus the zoo trip, city walk and going to the beach. The most memorable activity was the zoo trip because we saw a lot of animals, and when we fed them it was a very new and enjoyable experience that I was glad to be part of. ” Kosuke Hashimoto
“For one thing, I learnt a lot about their cuisine.” Kevin’s association with College has been constant since he started as a Year 11student in 2015. He was appointed a tutor in Richards House in 2020, and continues in that role while he completes his fourth year studying commerce at the University of Canterbury. For Kosuke Hashimoto, a Year 12 student from Japan who usually lives in Flower’s House, the time spent in Jacobs House was great. “I had a very fun time there, plus the zoo trip, city walk and going to the beach. The most memorable activity was the zoo trip because we saw a lot of animals, and when
we fed them it was a very new and enjoyable experience that I was glad to be part of. “And it was good to have a break and chill during my stay, which meant I could meet my Japanese friends in Christchurch. But it was also good to socialise with the other international students, as well as Kale and Kevin while in Jacobs.” Gordon Liu, a Year 10 student from China who is usually in Richards House, says the holiday programme in Jacobs was “pretty wonderful.” “Jacobs provided international students with a warm place to stay during the abominable time of Covid-19. We didn’t feel alone anymore there. Life in Jacobs
House is also colourful. We got chances to visit many places in Christchurch. Orana Wildlife Park was great, watching different kinds of animals.”
