A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 9
Year 9 has had another fantastic week. Students are now settled in their new form rooms up next to the Key Stage 4 Hub and I am really impressed with how they have shown resilience during this move. This week the focus was of course Drop Down Day and I was so impressed by the Year 9s enthusiasm and energy on their respective Drop Down Day trips across London. The feedback from staff and students has been incredibly positive and Year 9 have shown to be mature young people who are a testament to our school. A group of 20 Year 9 students took part in a Theatre in Education drama performance called the ‘Smeds and Smoos’ for Year 2 students at local Primary schools. They had a lovely time performing and delivering their workshops which were well received by the young audiences and their teachers. We are very proud of the hard work they have put in on the day and the lead up to this performance. Year 9 will be continuing on their Duke of Edinburgh assessed expeditions into the weekend and next week, this will conclude what has been a wonderful experience for the students who have taken part. We know that they have learnt valuable skills and forged great new friendships. Well done to them all! As we draw to the end of the final term of Year 9 we would appreciate your support in ensuring the standards of uniform and punctuality are kept up until the end of term in our year group. Have a fabulous weekend.

BOOK OF THE MONTH
‘King of Nothing’ by Nathanael Lessore
I really, really really enjoyed this book! I specifically enjoyed how realistic and actu- ally quite intense it was towards the end. The characters are all written so well. For example I really like how you can tell Anton is not as bad as Kehinde from the start when he kind of defended Mathew when Kehinde was about to give him a hard time. The scene where Mathew and Anton are at a sleepover and they’re talking about his nan made me cry! It was just so wholesome and the boys’ unexpected friendship is such a lovely part of the book. I will definitely suggest this book to people in the future!
