Ivy Indy - Winter 2022: Vol. 01

FOUNDATION & DONORS Ivy Tech launches first statewide campaign, with Indianapolis already raising $26 million of its $37 million goal

For Giving Tuesday, Ivy Tech Indianapolis hosted GO GREEN DAY, raising $108,750, thanks to a very generous matching gift, for the newly created Crossing the Finish Line Scholarship. This new scholarship supports student success by addressing an urgent need for tuition support. Indianapolis campus raises more than $108,000 for new scholarship on Giving Tuesday Crossing the Finish Line came to fruition for the hundreds of students each year who are well on their way to graduating and at risk of being dropped from classes because they can no longer pay their tuition. In fact, there is only an average of $1,500 in unmet financial need standing in between students and a life- changing credential. Students who complete and pass all of their classes will receive their scholarship at the end of their final semester. In the interim, students receive support while still taking classes to address barriers hindering their completion. This aid can come in the form of emergency funds, professional development and leadership training, career development activities, mentoring and more. Ivy Tech has begun the public phase of its first statewide campaign – a $285 million “Invest IN Ivy Tech” effort. Ivy Tech Indianapolis' goal within the statewide campaign is to raise $37 million, and it has had a successful start with $26 million raised thus far. “Ivy Tech, Indiana’s community college, plays an outsized role in upskilling Indiana’s workforce and increasing Hoosier prosperity,” said Dr. Sue Ellspermann, president of Ivy Tech Community College. “This campaign is largely a ‘human capital’ campaign ensuring we reach, educate, and serve all Hoosiers from first- generation high school graduates to single parents and displaced workers, allowing them to launch successful careers in high wage, high demand fields that will drive Indiana’s future economy.”

Invest IN Ivy Tech provides greater opportunity for each of the College’s campuses to educate, train, and support its students. Ivy Tech’s impact supports the equivalent of 56,697 jobs. For perspective, the activities of Ivy Tech and its students support one out of every 70 jobs in Indiana. A recent economic impact study showed that students invested $502.8 million in time and money to generate a cumulative return of

$2.2 billion in higher future earnings over their working careers.

To unite the past with the future, Invest IN Ivy Tech will be completed in 2023, the 60th anniversary of Ivy Tech. Learn more at
