members sent 183 birds which was liber- ated in a south south west wind. Massy Ali had an excellent race clocking three yearling cocks to take 1st, 2nd & 4th places with a two year old cock splitting these in 3rd place. Massy has built up a wonderful family of Leo Heremans and

two birds to take 1st & 4th places on 1531 & 1505, the winner a yearling mealy cock followed in 4th place with a yearling blue cock. In 2nd place Pickard & Wilby with a four year old blue pied cock on 1520.6 just beating club Secretary David Smith in to third place

BRADFORD AREA NOTES

Another year, another season, another race programme and Dewsbury Federation kick off with a new wagon. The old wagon has been put to rest and a new one bought in during the closed season and all the racking and water cut to fit the new wagon, full credit to the various people who have worked on the wagon during the closed season it really looks the part (see enclosed photograph). The season got under way with 69 members in the Dewsbury Federation

Mick Holt clocked three birds to take the top three velocities in the club and Federation on 1638, 1630 & 1629. Following these was a Dudley Hill member Massy Ali who took the first four places in the club plus 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th best performances in the Federation on 1631, 1630, 1629 & 1628. The next best being Nicky Walker & Son down at Birstall on 1612. With the Dewsbury Federation unable to get a Secretary this season various Federation members are

Dirk Van Den Bulck birds over the last couple of years and these are now producing the goods. Hollinger & Gallagher sponsored the race with £50 between the first four places which Massy will take the lot, they also spon- sored a £20 single bird nom which Massy won with a two year old cock in 8th place. So all in all he had a good race. The cash prize for the first member outside prize money goes to Colin Hullah with another two year old cock in 5th place. Also on the Dewsbury Federation wagon was Thornhill Homing Society who had 6 members sending 68 birds. John Quinn had a good race clocking

with a four year old blue cock on 1520.1. Over the Pennines now to the West Riding Federation where the Luddenden Foot Homing Society had 5 members sending 71 birds down to the Worcester race point, liberated at 9am in a south wind. Two lofts shared all the cards with Gerald Radley clocking two four year olds to take 1st & 3rd places on 1680 & 1614, David Bowler clocked another four year old to take 2nd place on 1662 followed by a three year old on 1608 to take fourth place. David Bowler also picked up ABCD pool plus the loft nom £17.10 with a five year old in 6th place on 1558. “KYE”
