It was serendipity when Hillary Ridland of Blenheim EquiSports stopped in at Mission Fine Art Gallery in San Juan Capistrano and spoke with Gallery Director, Toni Danchik, about her desire to invite Plein Air Painters to paint onsite during the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup TM during the week of May 10-14, 2023. This prestigious team sport had never been hosted on the West Coast, and it would present a unique, historical opportunity for artists to capture this moment in time. Danchik wished to share this incredible experience with more artists, so she reached out to Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA) to collaborate on the event and worked closely with LPAPA President Toni Kellenberg and the event’s Marketing Director & Organizer, Margarita Solazzo, to plan and coordinate bringing this unique interactive plein air painting experience to this special equestrian community. The week was filled with many enchanted moments. Artists were given access to visit the stables where the horses were being groomed, converse with the groomsmen, watch as the horses warmed up before going into the main arena, meet the incredibly talented riders and horses, meet horse owners and enthusiasts. These were new experiences for most of the artists. This online art show features work created during the event en plein air , or in the artist’s studio. All work was inspired from the onsite experiences, sketches, studies and content gathered by the artists during the event. The artwork is available for purchase and delivered framed. We hope you will enjoy reliving the memories and consider adding a special original work of art to your personal collection. Please feel free to reach out to LPAPA by phone (949) 376-3635 or by email info@lpapa.org, or to Mission Fine Arts Gallery by phone (949) 291-7738 or email connect@missionfineart.gallery, with any questions about the artwork, the artists, or the availability of commissioned paintings.
