Introduction: The Bible speaks of two forces who desire to provide en ergizing behind people’s lives. Eph. 1:19, Eph. 2:2. Who energizes you? Satan? Evidences of his energizing —pride—the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience, a. Some too wise to follow God’s way of salvation—some too good to need it. b. Rebellion—the children of dis obedience. Rebel against giving God the place in their lives that He de serves. c. Involvements—busy at everything but that which glorifies God. Summary: Hearts set on things of the world (v. 1). Advantages he has—we are dead to life with God (v. 1). We are by nature following the way of rebel lion (v. 3). God? Method of remedying the situation. . . He makes us alive (v. 3). Gets us back on the proper goal now and forever (w . 4, 5). Gives salvation free—remedy for pride . . . makes us a new creature from the inside out. The Plan o f God to Have A People for Himself Eph. 2:11-22 Introduction: The heart of God has always been to get a people who would serve Him because they love Him, and not because they thought they were forced to do it. God chose Israel as a nation upon whom He could shower His love and thus not only expect a response from them, but that the nations round about would see the blessing of God upon them and want to enter into His blessing too. Result: Israel did not respond. They became proud of God’s favor and the other nations became jealous. They were not a testimony, but they clung to some outward symbols which were used to divide rather than symbolize the intended truth. Circumcision: Result—The mass of the people still were—a. Without Christ—No sacrifice, thus not objects of God’s favor. No promises from God; no expectation of life after death; no kingdom; no hope—rto lasting goals to live for. To sum up they were without God in the world. No support in a world full of curse (sickness, sorrow, death, etc.) and doomed for judgment. Why? Because Israel had failed.
