Thanhs For The Saviour

There may be more you want in life. But stop and consider what God has given each boy and girl: a Saviour.

CONTEST CORNER. T hanksgiving time is here and many of our readers are probably thinking of tender turkeys or plump pumpkins! We can be thank ful for the material blessings that God haS given to us and also for the glories of His creation. This is very nicely expressed in a poem by Rose maryMartensen, age 11, of Pasadena, Calif. I AM THANKFUL I thankGodfor the rabbits, birds andevenbees. I thank Him for the ocean, flow ers and for the trees. I thank Him for the little ones; the big are also fine. I thank Him for the palm trees andalsoforthepine. I thank Him for the mountains which are sovery clear. I thank Him for the forests and for the many deer. I dothankGodforThanksgiving. Boys and girls who know Jesus as their Saviour canbe thankful for His care and keeping. June Ralston, age 11, of Camas Valley, Ore., was saved 3 years ago through the influence of the Junior King’s Business page. She has written this little story andmay be some of you readers who have never done so before will want to meet the Shepherd after reading it. THE GOOD SHEPHERD Pennie openedthe cardoorandran up to the farm house. “Aunt Cora, Uncle Ben,” she cried. “Pennie,” Aunt Cora said and kissed her. ThenUncle Bentookher up onhis shoulders while Mama and Daddy brought the suitcases. Aunt Cora showed them to their rooms. After dinner Uncle Ben took Pennie out to

see the sheep. “Yes, Old Jim takes care of them. He beds them down at night and feeds them in winter time. He also takes care of the little lambs when they are bom. He guards them and drives away wolves and coyotes. When they get caught in sinking sand old Jim gets them out,” said Uncle Ben. “Oh,” answered Pennie, “I never knew that a shepherd was so much like Jesus. In John 10:14 it calls Je sus a shepherd. I never could under stand that before, but now I do.” “Yes, shepherds are verymuch like Jesus. Can you repeat John 10:14?” asked Uncle Ben. “Oh, yes,” said Pennie. “ ‘I amthe good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.’ I learned that in Sunday school. It is wonder ful that my Saviour cares for me all the time.” Here is another contest winner fromOregon. It’s fromJanice Marie Glaske, age 13, of Portland.
