Fire Service Leaders... Who happen to be Women

She, along with the other members of her department, are proponents of Community Risk Reduction (CRR) as a system for implementing proactive fire prevention and public education programs to reduce injuries and property loss. Her emphasis and leadership in the areas of diversity and mentorship have been highly praised, including earning accolades for efforts such as hosting Georgia’s first fire camp for young women to introduce them to the fire service as a profession. She has also chaired the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation and has served as Chair of Professional Credentialing at the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE). Chief Washington earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Management from Savanah State University, and a Master of Science in Managerial Leadership from National Louis University. She is also a proud Alumnus of the Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute (EDI) at Dillard University. She has received professional fire service training at the National Fire Academy and has earned her Fire Officer Designation from CPSE. Just a few of her other professional affiliations include membership in the Metro Atlanta Fire Chiefs Association, the International Fire Chiefs Association (IAFC), and the Georgia State Firefighters Association. Toni has received many recognitions and awards acknowledging her outstanding achievements and service. Fire Chief Toni Washington is an admired and respected leader with an incredible background and set of credentials. Even with all of that, it's likely that her passion for excellence, desire to help others achieve their dreams and goals, and the leadership example she consistently sets, that makes her such a beloved and renowned professional and person.
