$20,000 each year to needs identified by the Pediatric Oncology Social Work Team—covering travel, lodging, lost wages, and other essentials. You’ll also see our gold ribbon campaigns around Gainesville each September for Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. • Hospital Team Support. Through targeted fundraising, we provide items that lift up the dedicated care teams and brighten the days of children at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. • Research. Pediatric cancer research—especially for DIPG— remains profoundly underfunded. With few therapeutic advances since the 1960s, research today can spark breakthroughs that benefit many cancers tomorrow.
ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 31, 2026, the Be Hope Gala returns to Legacy Park in Alachua for an inspiring night of dining, stories, and community impact benefiting the Phoebe Louise Dooley Foundation. Individual tickets and full tables are available, and the Foundation is welcoming event sponsors as well as gift-basket donations for the gala auction. WHY WE GATHER: PHOEBE’S LEGACY Phoebe Louise Dooley was a bright, whimsical soul who loved pink, good books, great stories, and every animal she met. After surviving congenital heart disease as an infant, she was diagnosed at age three with an aggressive, incurable brainstem tumor— diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) . She lived— and loved—bravely for 29 months, passing away at six. Her family created the Foundation to honor her joyful spirit and to create legacy of hope. WHAT YOUR SUPPORT FUELS • Family Support.
