Key dates and tips for business owners GET AHEAD OF TAX SEASON 2026!
APRIL 15, 2026, may feel far away, but tax season always comes faster than expected! Getting your books organized now will save you stress, time, and money when filing season hits.
Here’s a simple roadmap to help you stay ahead:
DECEMBER 2025 • Review your books for missing receipts, uncategorized expenses, or personal charges. • Make any year-end purchases or charitable contributions by December 31, 2025 to maximize deductions. • Double-check payroll data so W-2s and 1099s will be accurate when January arrives. JANUARY 2026 • Begin reconciling all 2025 bank and credit-card accounts for accurate year-end reporting. • January 15, 2026: Final estimated quarterly tax payment for 2025 is due. • January 31, 2026: Deadline to send W-2s to employees and 1099-NECs to contractors. FEBRUARY – MARCH 2026 • Review and finalize your Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports. • March 16, 2026: Filing deadline for S-Corporations (Form 1120-S) and Partnerships • (Form 1065). • If you need more time, file an extension before the deadline to avoid penalties. • April 2026 • April 15, 2026: Filing deadline for individual returns (Form 1040) and C-Corporations • (Form 1120). • The first quarterly estimated payment for 2026 is also due this day.
