epistle from " P A R A D I S E ” ?

Against the azure background of the Pacific lies a chain of jewelled Islands, like a fantastic emerald necklace flung there by an almighty Hand. Its mountains are circled by halos of fleecy cloud . . . its valleys are verdantly lush and emi nently peaceful . . . and its flowers flaunt themselves shamelessly in colors almost unbelievable . . .

It is the Territory of Hawaii . . . a veritable "Paradise of the Pacific . . .”

But . . . a Paradise lost . . . To those who have been born . . . raised . . . and steeped in the lore of the Islands, it is obvious that our "Paradise” home lacks the very thing a true Paradise must necessarily have . . . a true God . . . There are . . . it is true . . . the "gods” of commercialism . . . pleasure . . . and the idols of the pagan religions which so dominate the Island religious picture . . . a picture in which true . . . Bible-believing and-teaching, evangelical Christianity is almost unnoticeable . . . E A visionary group of modern-day Pauls, Barnabases and Silases caught the fire of the Hawaiian challenge . . . and in 1945 organized the Christian Broad casting Association as a non-profit organization with the sole purpose of broad casting the Gospel into these needy homes throughout the Territory . . . From modest beginnings, utilizing local commercial stations, CBA went on . through times of trial and discouragement . . . until in 1953 the dream of erecting its own FM station came true . . . Then, in 1956, KAIM-AM joined its sister station . . . and today, the stations are covering the Islands with 17 hours a day of good music and public service programs . . . strategically inter spersed with Gospel programs . . . Then . . . is nothing being done? On the contrary . . .

And from these homes . . . now enlightened with the Light of the Gospel . . . come these souls . . . once lost . . . now eager for spiritual food . . . into the churches . . . where they are nurtured in the knowledge and love of the Lord. C
